The Critical Care Complex housing the Laboratories, Theatres and Intensive Care wards is complete and linked by Pneumatic Tube to the Emergency Department, OPD and McDermot Cancer Suite.
The New Critical Care Unit which recently opened its Emergency Department, is linked by Pneumatic Tube to an existing system. When completed, a High Speed Multi Carrier transportation will link the two main Plant Rooms on the site and the Belfast City Hospital Complex.
The Hospital has 9 Departments linked by a 110mm Pneumatic Tube System, each Station using the RFID Technology for Carrier Management. Laboratories link to the wards including Emergency Department and ICU.
